Things to keep in mind:

  • Letterpress ink is semitransparent and matte. We cannot print an ink color that is lighter than the color of the paper.

  • Black or tonal ink colors are recommended for colored paper. Red letterpress ink on blue paper will result in a purple-ish ink.

  • The larger the surface area of the artwork, the weaker the impression. Detailed borders may need to be printed separately from the text to ensure coverage and impression.

  • Ink is mixed by hand and paper is hand fed one at a time. Foil is also hand fed one at a time.

  • The largest die shape we can currently produce is approximately 8.5" x 13.5".

  • The largest foil size we can print is A9 - our foil press does best with foil as an accent rather than full A9 artwork

  • Some embossing can be done with polymer plates, and some require metal dies (which are much more expensive). We will let you know which will work best with your design.
